Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From Rt 10 followed Dorchester Rd approx 7 mi to snowmo parking lot. Odd shaped lot that parallels snomo trail. It is long and narrow requiring trucks with snomo trailers to back up along the edge of the lot. After ski area, road no longer paved and in good condition except for 2 spots, each approx 100’ long that had 4-6” mud ruts the whole width of the road. Ruts we’re frozen solid in the morning, but had completely thawed on the way out.

Comments
Comments: From vehicle, we snowshoed on snomo trail 153N approx 0.9 mi. Here we turned S on a woods road that skirted the E side of the 1670’ bump. At 1600’, S of the bump, we passed through a fence and into a Christmas Tree farm. With superb surface conditions requiring no breaking effort we scratched our plan for a T-route to these peaks and instead opted for a lollipop route.
From here we beelined for Sugar Hill. Recognized high point easily found. Then turned NW along the ridge, skirting the minor peak, to the saddle with Winslow. Turned N a bit to avoid the steeps, and then WNW along the prominent ridge to Winslow. Nice open soft wood forest on Winslow.
Followed our tracks back to 2100’ where we turned E. Met our ascending tracks at 1600’, just N of the 1670’ bump.
surface conditions - to-die-for, zero breaking effort
tree density - wide open hardwoods, clear cuts
grades - all easy, except for a short moderate stretch going up Winslow.
