Spiked about a mile up AT on a pretty well established trail. Switched to snowshoes, and then about 1.5 or 2 miles in the trail ran out and I had to break trail. (Sorry to those who follow me: I lost the scent of the AT blazes a couple of times but eventually got it right.)
I turned back down the ranger trail at the junction at 2,700 ft. Uphill was just too exhausting. Coming down the ranger trail was also unbroken all the way to the parking lot, but gravity was on my side. |
