Comments: Zealand Road, Holt Brook Trail
There is a well established monorail [not a monorail] all the way out to the trailhead. My friend and I put our snowshoes on as soon as we started on Zealand Road even though temps were in the 20’s this morning and we were in them from start to finish. Actually glad we did too! Otherwise I might have turned around. Plus the lifts are really nice on this steady climb to the summit! We really appreciated the person(s) who broke this trail out after last Tuesday’s big snow! Thank you!!! We had all types of snow today. Really soft on the sunny, narrow, steep approach to the switchbacks. The upper half of this trail had a fair amount of deep churned up snow but because the temps were cold enough it was decent hiking through some postholes along the side of the trail all the way to the summit. We definitely left this trail in much better shape then when we started. I loved this hike, even the long road walk. It was gorgeous today. It’s spring and you could feel it in the air and in the snow on our return.
