Many of the water bars appear to have never frozen this winter. I was able to get across all of them with some creative route finding and several big steps without taking off my skis. |

Skinned up to the Cabin in softening frozen granular snow, but switched to snowshoes to summit since snow was more breakable crust above the Cabin. Looped around East Pasture to Cutoff, neither of which had been traveled since last storm. Turning to cabin on the Cutoff I came across multiple fresh moose tracks/postholes wandering generally along the trail, but I never saw the moose. Nice ski down on soft spring snow as the sun warmed the trail.
Great view of the Presidentials from the cabin and nice, albeit limited, views of Wildcat, Carter Dome & Notch and Baldfaces from the summit. While no longer a 52WAV, I thought the views well worth the trip. |
