Having such a beautiful day and more gas in the tank, both figuratively and literally, I decided to drive over to Tecumseh and save a little on my carbon footprint. Eight hikers were descending as I started out, all wearing spikes. The trail is hard packed but the sides on the lower part are soft and sink-in-able. I used spikes but switched to crampons after the view point sign as my spikes were balling up - still usable, just annoying [snowshoes would be better!]. I still hiked in blue skies, calm winds and warm temps. The front side or right turn at the summit junction is a bit of a mess but doable. The backside or left turn is a nicely groomed trail. I lollipoped up to the left. Great views on top and glad I made the most of the day given the rains coming in. Tris in the morning, Tecumseh in the afternoon and hot tub and wine in the evening. |
