Fog and occasional light rain softened the snowpack today. Previously bootpacked trail was yielding postholes by inconsiderate barebooters. I wore snowshoes roundtrip and found them to be ideal for hiking, as well as leaving the trail in equal or better shape than I found it.
Virtually full snowpack still remains, other than some ice down low and one short bare spot in the usual place (south-facing ascent of South Peak). |
