Microspikes the entire time for a group of 10 hikers, up Winslow to summit and down Barlow. Most people we saw (not many) were going up and back on Winslow, so it was fun to break trail [??? How do you break trail without snowshoes???] above treeline on Barlow. The overnight storm added a few inches of wet snow, covering things nicely, and providing some traction over what felt like hard, icy ground below. Post Holes were evident from previous hikers, but, the ground was firm enough for our group where we weren't creating new ones. Carried snowshoes, but never needed them. Beautiful Sunday hike on fresh snow. |
