 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking plowed at winter gate, which is approximately 1.5 miles south of bridge/summer trailhead |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Spring Snow |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Skis |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Snow bridges are almost gone. Recommend poles for assisting with water crossings. Crossings are not wide, but can be tricky with steep embankment. East side of Rocky Branch River Bridge has washed-out abutment and 20' of decking. Needed to boost up dog and climb up to remaining bridge deck. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Blazes needed for rerouted section of trai? around washout about 1/2 mile from she?ter. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Great area for dogs. First 1/2 mile is popular dog walking route. Note need to lift dog up to head height to cross bridge |
 | Bugs: |
None |
 | Lost and Found: |
Prior weekend, we accidentally left a pair of Black Diamond trekking poles somewhere on the trail between the kiosk 1/4 north of the bridge and the larger stream crossing approximately 1.5 further north, probably at a crossing. Couldn't find, probably due to recent snowfall. Please contact me at portsmouthrunner@myfairpoint.net if you find them |
