Cascade Link has not seen much traffic and is posthole central. Beyond Spellman and Red Spot intersections it's not packed whatsoever and needs some love (aka snowshoes). Icy and slippery near summit. By the time we started descending on White Cross, we were shocked to find no one had been on the trail at around noon. Met a few pairs of people on their way up. With the warmth the trail was getting pretty beat up. Slipping and sliding with spikes. Pumpelly was ok, but still choppy and lots of postholes. Snowshoes would have been more comfy and beneficial. Rangers said spikes only with a packed trail. Not so. |
