With Trailshippah after work hike. Brought light traction but never put it on. More careful people might have, but more than half the trail is bare ground. Only times it felt sketchy was heading down from south and the very bottom headed down from north. If it was colder and more frozen I might have put them on. Definitely rock spikes if you are worried. Great hike, but if you want to see the sunset, I'd suggest going the opposite direction, as the best views are going to be from the tower. It was nice to see the alpine glow on South Peak. There was about 6" of snow on the bushwhack portion of the hike, in places, but if we stuck to the ridgeline we would have avoided it and had a slightly nicer whack. |
