 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I would not recommend this with a low clearance vehicle right now. The road was not plowed today and there is deep mud and ruts lurking under the new snow. Had to put my truck in 4WD. |

Amazingly, we actually had a net gain of snow from last night's/this morning's storm, even down in the valley. Up on Stinson, there was 2-4" of new, wet powder.
Snowshoes very much needed (light snowshoes were ideal in the sticky snow). Unfortunately a couple of Massachusetts barebooters did a lot of damage this afternoon ("I should have brought my snowshoes"). I cleaned up what I could and suggested they take the snowmobile trail down so that their postholes and divots don't set up tonight. So, either there will be a decent snowshoe footbed tomorrow, or a nasty frozen mess. Snowmobile trail saw a little activity today, so that's a possibility if they destroyed the hiking trail footbed.
Still a good 2-3 feet of snowpack, so snowshoes will be needed for the coming weeks on this one (if you can get to the trailhead).
Warm mid-afternoon with temperatures in the mid 40s and an hour of so of blue sky and sun before the clouds rolled back in. |
