Comments
Comments: Another hike on traditional favorite snowshoe/ski trails only to find much of it badly postholed. Where the sun didn't get a chance to soften it coming down Wonalancet Hedgehog it was an anklebuster. Well the postholer was mostly on trail so those trails will be easy to follow for quite some time. He/she did get off trail in the loop back section of Walden in the col between Wonalancet Hedgehog and Nanamocomuck but corrected the error. The short Hibbard outlook spur was unbroken with a nice enough restricted view. The postholes were NOT on Wonalancet from the upper jct with the Cutoff back to Wonalancet Peak and part way down from it which was unbroken. This stretch from the cutoff to the peak is not really paint blazed, so corridor following may be needed there if my prints don't show because I was able to stay on top of the snow. Postholes were on the lowest section up to the view and back. There were no postholes on Walden from Wonalancet down to Old Mast Rd, just old & faint snowshoe tracks that had set up nicely with just a bit of crust making for a nice descent in snowshoes despite some moderately steep sections. Old Mast was pretty solid at least in snowshoes for an afternoon descent.

I turned around on Walden as it climbed Nanamocomuck seeing what looked like a nasty ice falls above and knowing from past history there likely would be more, and I had a nice snowshoe down Walden waiting for me.
