Comments
Comments: Just as I had expected, thanks to prior reports of these trails. Avalon & A-Z were snowshoe super highways. Rock solid even with the warmer temps lately. Post holes from barebooters off trail but thankfully the snowshoe track is solid enough to support traffic. I did snowshoes 100% of my hike as I never like screwing with gear and I knew I'd be off trail as soon as I crested over Willey Range.

Onto the fun part of the day - with past reviews I didn't expect this bushwhack to be terribly enjoyable but found open, pleasant woods maybe 92% of the trek.
Snowpack was quite supportive leaving A-Z trail and hugging the 3,500' contour line over to the Field-West Field col, sinking perhaps 4-6" with each step. Still a good 4-5' snowpack remains in the backcountry. Only spruce traps were found just below the summit but did nothing to dampen my mood. A grey jay came to join me as I signed into the summit register.

Followed my tracks out for a fantastic summit of West Field. Great route, never too thick hugging 3,500' over to the West Field-Field col, ascending West Field from this angle was an absolute dream, beautiful forest from the col to summit.

Feel free to read more at the link below, one of my favorite bushwhacks of winter/winter conditions. Enjoy!
Happy Climbing!
