Comments
Comments: Really enjoyable morning. While higher elevations were calling for high winds, I had a slight/constant breeze and blue skies atop the 3,420' Eagle Cliff.

The snowpack was hard given the overnight freeze, yet completely unsupportive in most areas. Take a step and never know HOW MUCH a snowshoe will sink, even worse on-trail.
Still good to get out, off-trail provided good traction, just crummy granular snow that was becoming soft as the sun hit it.

Greenleaf Trail to Eagle Pass to shoot around the NE side of the mountain, began climbing basically immediately upon departing marked trail. Mostly nice open woods ascending generally west, some patches of spindly stuff but nothing terrible - Hardly even a sign of herd path initially. Paths began to appear higher up which were essentially broken branches - Didn't see any other tracks up the snowy hillside. Found the cut path nearing the summit to get through the tough fir/krummholz. Came out to the southwesterly facing view to Cannon and continued ~20' further to the high point. Canister is hanging on a tree by cordage, couldn't get it open as there is no handle on the screw-plug. Maybe when temps warm up there will be a little more tolerance to spin those threads? Never thought I'd need to carry a pipe wrench on a bushwhack before lol. Great hike overall.

There is a little write-up with some color photography thrown in at the link below - Enjoy!
Happy Climbing!
