Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings on Cart Path and Mossy Brook are high, but manageable. I can’t imagine they’ll get much higher than they are currently.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One duckunder on Cart Path that will need to be handled. Also, someone sawed down a tree on White Cross and it’s just sitting in the trail. It’s a clean cut, so…?

Comments
Comments: Very surprised at the lack of ice/snow at this point in the season, especially given how hard the Monadnock area got hit with the last big storm. Barebooted the entire way, but you could make the argument for rock spikes in a few places.

Parker: 99% snow free

Old Toll Road: Clear of snow/ice

Cart Path: Muddy in all the usual spots, but nothing crazy for this time of year

Mossy Brook: Plenty of snow here. Still mostly supportive though. Surprisingly, followed a relatively fresh set of tracks. Guess the secret is getting out about this trail lol

Marian: Ugh. This trail hasn’t seen any action in a long while. There was one set of old snowshoe prints that descended at some point, but that’s it. Sometimes the snow was supportive, but mostly it wasn’t. Definitely the slowest and sloggiest part of the hike

Marlboro: In the trees, you could definitely use rock spikes if you want. I was able to bareboot, but whatever works best for you is the way to go. Above the trees, there’s a lot of standing water amongst the rocks

White Dot/White Cross: Surprisingly little amount of snow/ice. Everything is avoidable with careful steps. Snow disappears around 2500’ on White Cross, and the trail pretty much becomes a stream at that point

With the forecast over the next 7-10 days, I’d be shocked if there’s any need for spikes next weekend or beyond.
