Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lots of well-maintained parking at the end of Randolph Hill Road. Only one other car this morning which was gone this afternoon
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy rock hops or bridged. Some snow bridges were collapsing-one in particular at the end of the day had a catastrophic failure and I had to perform some agile, cat-like ninja moves to avoid catastrophe.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails seemed to be well marked. Some Underhill Path blazes were pretty faded and hard to spot. No blowdowns really today which was a surprise
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Would have been a tough trip today for Fin with Spring conditions so I left her at home to pout. Would typically be an excellent dog route.

Comments
Comments: Saw my first on-trail moose today 10 minutes from the car on Pasture Path! Crazy amounts of moose scat/postholes throughout the entire day. My only hiking partner who is not my child came out of adventuring retirement today (hour and a half late in the AM but that's okay, he is a "doctor" now and their time is more much more important than us regular folks) so it was appropriate that we achieved some redlining since he is way behind in that regard. These trails were fantastic and so much more fun than when I did them in Summer a few years ago. Snow was shockingly supportive almost all day until our bushwahck down the ski glades. Snowshoes all day-would have been a fool's errand without them!!1 Underhill Path was totally untracked and hard to follow from bottom to top-we relied heavily on Gaia/GPS to find the way, but the woods were wide open and snow supportive, so constantly losing trail was not a negative issue. Crescent Ridge trail was badly postholed by a moose, and Castelview/Peek Path was very badly postholed by a human. Enjoyed a pizza lunch at Pond of Safety and didn't have to worry about leeches like last time I was there. Weather was WARM all day in the sun, wind was not bad at all, and views were absolutely spectacular. I was unsure of weather and snow conditions going into today, but it turned out to be an all-time favorite Spring hike. Zero humans and one moose spotted today. Hiking bliss.
