Comments: An amazing day for a northern traverse. The monorail is now elevated all the way to treeline. It was soft from the start, but has been so firmly packed down due to the immense traffic this trail sees that it could support my weight without crumbling. Used spikes to treeline, where we took them off and barefooted both Madison and Adams. It's amazing how much has melted since last week. There are only a few patches of snow on the summit cones and they are not really a big deal. Same story from Adams to the start of the snowfields heading through Edmunds col. Here the snow is still deep but despite the warmth and relentless sun it was surprisingly stable and supportive (as long as you avoid the spruce traps). Put spikes back on for this section. This is the case from the col to Jefferson summit. Went back to bareboots from here down to the Jewell intersection as this part also doesn't have much snow left, and the remaining patches are easily navigated. Jewell has an elevated monorail that did a valiant job of staying strong despite having already been chopped to pieces.
