|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
We started in mid- AM & by late PM when we recrossed streams, the water levels had risen a few inches. Snow bridges & banks were collapsing. Waterproof socks seemed to be right choice. Getting to hazardous stage for young children or inexperienced folks. Water wee bit cold. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Only a few easy step overs or duck unders for trees. Some blowdowns have been avoided by folks making own trail. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Too many post holes IMO. Going to hut maybe ok |
|
 | Bugs: |
A few. Not biting. |

 | Lost and Found: |
Wow! Someone lost their mind on a few of water crossings below hut. Clothes, food, and a water bladder were dumped. We didn’t have energy to pick up bc items waterlogged. shouldn’t be in spots currently that will get into river. Sure but stewards will appreciate if someone retrieves. |

Our goal was Zbonds, which quickly became a fantasy given epic post holing. We went up to our waist several times & it took us 12 hrs RT. We aren’t slow. Snowshoes could have helped but then issue of getting a shoes stuck in spruce trap & water crossings. This area will be struggle until refreeze if that happens. At least 6’ drifts on ridge past zeacliff overlook. FS road plowed almost to hale trailhead. Positive side is it was an unforgettable adventure, didn’t fall into water (lots of near misses) & we literally had area to ourselves. Also saw moose driving up. Love spring ???? |
