Kuncanowet Town Forest and Conservation Area is a very enjoyable 1,000-acre (!!) town-owned property in Dunbarton. This was my second visit here and I like it even more now. Lost Lake is a quiet, remote gem worthy of repeated visits.
From Gum Tree Trail, I also did a short bushwhack to the highest point of the Kuncanowet Hills ridge (663 ft.). The two-foot lidar contour map shows a couple of high point contenders and I visited both.
Totally barren, dry trails for the most part, though there are some small flooded spots. But no big whoop. It was way too hot today for the middle of April. |
