 | Comments: |
Continued up the Snowmobile / ATV road to the ledges. Lower section has evidence of mining and industrial uses. Upper section was a nice walk on wide trail through the matchstick forest. Lower sections were dry, but road became wetter, and eventually covered in ice and snow as the elevation increased (snowmobile monorail). Water was flowing down the trail in multiple sections, and often the ice/snow covered patches did not support traffic. Some spots were difficult to get around w/o getting muddy boots, but there is plenty of water to clean them off. Very short bushwhack to the RHP behind the ledges. Ledges offer views over Berlin, Wildcats, Carters, North Presies, Jericho, and more. Saw evidence, in form of prints in the mud & scat, of moose, deer, turkeys, coyote, and maybe bear. Nice quick afternoon hike. |
