 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was dropped off at Mountainside Rd. and the logging road begins just behind a house. There's no parking there, so somewhere along 112/elsewhere is better. I parked at Reel Brook and was surprised my Impreza didn't blow up when I banged a rock going into the lot. The "lot" before the trailhead lot was full. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Gordon Pond Brook is running high -- I crossed at the regular crossing. A few rock hops and then I was up to my pockets in water. If there was a place within 100 yards to cross, I didn't see it. .2 or so before the crossing there was a bridge near the power lines. I thought about taking it and bushwhacking up, but was too lazy.
Other crossings, including the top of Gordon Falls, were more or less OK, though your boots and ankles will definitely get wet. |

 | Comments: |
Hiked Gordon Pond, Kinsman Ridge, and Reel Brook trails. Only significant mud on Gordon Pond was at the very beginning. Trail is mostly dry until around Gordon Falls, where there is consistent soft snow. I put my snowshoes on here and did not take them off until Reel Brook Trail. After the falls, the trail is under quickly melting snow, and there is running water underneath. I broke through in a few places. The trail is not well blazed, but it is mostly easy to follow. Kinsman Ridge Trail is a mixed bag. I found it difficult to follow at times after Mt. Wolf, and the snow is deeper. The last .5 mile were nasty, with dog, man, and moose trashing the trail. Before this point I had seen no evidence of other recent hikers. I stayed at the Eliza Brook lean-to, which was clean. There are some bare rocks and mud in this area. Reel Brook is largely free of snow except near the junction with Kinsman Ridge. This was a perfect early spring hike, and I saw no one from start to end. |
