Comments
Comments: Water starts running down trail at 2800’. Broken monorail begins in patches at 3000’, after 3300 it was fairly consistent and mostly ice to the junction. The .2 spur to Martha’s summit was a wide nicely packed, firm monorail on firm snow, with a couple small icy patches.

Martha’s Mile was a rough postholed monorail of packed snow and ice until the col and then the ice/snow disappeared to leave mostly dry trail with a little bit of moisture on the short scramble leading up to the ledges.

The view from Owlshead Ledges are spectacular. Ken Macray’s 52WAV Book says this vista has been called one of the best in the White’s and I agree 100% the view of the Presidential’s and Crawford Notch is exceptional. So glad I made the extra .8 mile trek to enjoy it. I spent almost an hour in 70 degree temps and mostly sunny skies on the ledges and had them all to myself. What a gift today was.
