Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: My only quibble is the sign at the end of the Great Brook Trail at the pond. Great Brook Trail ends here but the sign suggests that it continues along with the SRKG.

Comments: (Note: Nearly all of this hike is in New London, but the pond itself is tucked away in a corner of Wilmot.)

Overcast days are great for photographing cascades and Great Brook Trail did not disappoint. The brook and the cascades are beautiful right now! If you love hiking alongside water, now is the time to do this one.

On the way down I bushwhacked along the brook for a bit and found some more cascades that aren't obvious from the trail, as well as a couple of old stone structures. One looked like the remnants of a dam; not sure about the other.

At the power lines, I looped back to the trailhead via Bunker Loop as I "needed" it for the NLCC patch.

Everything here was bare aside from small patches of snow right at the pond, which is still partly iced over. The upper section of Great Brook Trail has some mud pits but nothing crazy.
