Toasty today creating sloppy spring conditions that significantly slowed my pace and lowered my enjoyment of the trail. Was hoping to make it over to Resolution but not worth the effort with current conditions. A group of 3 did a posthole party over to Resolution, but after about 50 yards I turned around as it wasn't worth the energy. Muddy stream of a trail down low with the occasional dry section and minor patchy monorail than lots of decaying monorail starting around 2000', roughly where spikes went on until returning to about the same elevation. Any snow in the open near the ledges was quickly melting as it went from soft on the ascent to collapsing into slushy puddles on the return. Maybe i shoulda gone for the grid peaks instead but just didn't want to carry and wear snowshoes |
