Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The major issue on Red Trail is the blazing. It's a combo of plastic and paint blazes and the painted ones are very faded. I missed a couple of turns as they are obscure without any markings. The plastic blazes have also been nailed too far in to allow for tree growth. Signs at all trail junctions would be very beneficial; currently there are none. Root Hill Rd. has several large blowdowns.

Comments
Comments: This is a pretty mellow walk to a great outlook near the summit of Wellmans Hill (1,103 ft.). The view looks west and the main attraction is Mt. Ascutney just over the river in VT. The high point of the hill is just off the trail right before the outlook. There's also a mailbox/register at the viewpoint.

I looped back using other trails in the Cornish Town Forest system, which were a combo or roads and footpaths.

Conditions were mainly dry with just some minor mud. I guess winter decided to stick around for just a little longer as light snow showers fell while I was at the outlook, but not enough to amount to anything. Just when I switched over to shorts season. :D
