Since the ski resort is closed I figured I'd take a late-season romp on the remaining snow. Checked the summit cam last night to confirm conditions. Given a few days/nights of colder temps, groomed ski runs were solid, used snowshoes up Rosebrook and over nearly to the summit of Oscar until I was off any snow, there are ski trails without snow but hardpack is so much easier to climb than crumbly rock and dirt (for me).
Found the high point of Mt Rosebrook and roamed around on a solid snowpack for a bit before trekking NE to Mt Oscar. Near the col I spotted the entrance to the hiking trail and was happy to depart ski trails. This hiking/snowshoeing path cuts through a most lovely spruce/fir/birch forest and even saw my first bear tracks of the season - figures its atop a ski resort. The views from Mt Oscar were some of the finest, one of the best panoramas I've found in a while.
Didn't see another person all morning and spent some time atop Oscar in the sun as the cloud layer lifted from the Presidentials. Followed my ascending tracks back down to my car.
