Trail completely melted out except the very top fire road to summit, which is easily managed without any additional traction. Didn't make the traverse to Owls Head but other hikers said the trail is in good condition. The is all before the three days of rain, I imagine trail will be a muddy waterfall for the next few days.
Saw a few moose poop piles in the first half mile, and my dog got VERY on alert and crazy eyed, which is usually my biggest signal there's animals in the area. Didn't see anything but we went up midday. Would bet an early morning hiker would see wildlife out. |
