Comments
Comments: Great day between rain showers, none during the hike, thankfully. Never saw any logging trucks or activity despite signs at the trailhead indicating an active logging zone. Forest, farm and logging roads of varying conditions, mostly wet but I never really sunk in mud at all. Bushwhacked from the HOL on Cobble Hill Trail up the steep western face of Cobble Hill, shot too far north and had to backtrack along the ridge south to gain the true summit, the peanut butter jar had a ton of water in it, the register notebook was soaked so I never even tried to sign in, just emptied the water and returned the contents. Descent due west off the summit was much easier that my ascending track.

Shot straight across Cobble Hill Trail toward Moody Ledge, finding moose and deer activity, and boggy areas before entering narrow pathway corridors through the dense conifer forest down low. Eventually that gave way to a nice, open forest where moss grew more and more prevalent as I climbed, reaching 4-6" thick just below the summit. That jar and contents were in good shape, signed in and continued NW off the low ridge to pick up Orr Hill Trail and as it was only 9am, picked up Green Mountain as well. Began bushwhacking as I didn't realize there was a Private residence driveway cutting up the ridgeline to the ultimate high point, where a small cabin can be found. It was clearly unoccupied today but I didn't waste time poking around, followed the ATV/forest road all the way to its base and bushwhacked briefly to pick up Orr Hill Trail once again to follow that south.

The trail was underwater at Petty Brook, at the beaver activity for a short stretch where I whacked alongside through the woods. The old road was pleasant yet wet as it cut through some atrocious logging, growing older as one nears South Landoff Road. This road was very enjoyable for the trek back to Cobble Hill Trail, saw some old orchards, foundations - even a chunky porcupine waddling 10' in front, I gave it some space to meander into the woods on its way.

Nice day exploring new terrain - check out the link below for a more in-depth write up with color photography. Enjoy!
Happy Climbing!
