Comments
Comments: Counter clockwise loop to Cardigan starting at the AMC Cardigan Hut, Manning up to Firescrew/Mowglis. Bare boots the hole way. Only one area where I would have used spikes but for very short distance. There is still snow in a few dark spots but also for very short periods. Lots of slippery rock and roots but plenty of options for foot placement. Open ledge areas are mostly dry - where they are wet, I was able to find footholds nearby to use. After Firescrew summit and after you turn onto Mowglis, there are a couple of cairns/small rock piles that are not on the actual trail - I suggest following the white blazes and not the piles until you bear right and back into the shrubbery a bit. This is a great approach to Cardigan and always nice to do a "loop."
