Comments
Comments: Wednesday was a great day on these trails; as it had rained over night the trails were damp down low and never soggy. A fine layer of fresh snow had begun to linger around 2600' and real snowpack began around 2700' which, thankfully was rather solid at that elevation. Hillsound spikes went for a ride as I stepped carefully in other hikers footprints, the snowpack was supportive probably 90% of the time. The east facing slopes were free of snow, luckily for the descent of Wonalancet Hedgehog and its steep sections. Some snow in the col but - to my delight - the trails were back to rock and dirt following the Kelley Trail junction. Some minor snow along the higher elevation of Mt Paugus and some for the bushwhack to the higher, trailless summit. Found a patch of blowdown which I avoided on the return trek. Found the high point and signed in before returning back to the trail which I'd follow to descend upon the Kelley Trail. Some collapsing snow as the brook runs below the trail/snowpack in the higher section but in almost no time at all the trail was back to earth and beeeautiful for the trek out.

Happy Climbing!
