 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the little lot on Cape Moonshine Road and rode my bicycle down to the lot on 25A. This is an excellent bike spotting trail section because it’s almost entirely downhill! |

There is a moose leg on the trail, about 0.3 miles from Cape Moonshine Road. Yes, you read that correctly; this is very fresh. Blood, fat, muscle, and a lot of flies. The reason that I saw it before I smelled anything was because the flies were making a tremendous racket.
I tried to call NH Fish and Game when I got home (not sure that they would be concerned but I thought I should tell someone), but they were closed and now it’s technically the weekend.
I think that the predators will clean this up in the next few days; I would recommend avoiding this trail for at least that amount of time, if you have a weak stomach.
(And nope, I didn’t see the rest of the moose but honestly I wasn’t looking for it!)
Other than the above, it’s a very straightforward, albeit muddy, hike. |
