Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I crossed West Brook twice on this trip. It was higher than when I did it the other day, but still no issue to get across.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The most notable blowdowns are near the beginning of Red Trail at Sunset Lake. The maintainer is aware of them.
Dog-Related Notes

Bugs
Bugs: Well, for anyone who has been eagerly awaiting their arrival, black flies are back! They were out in force at the summit of Anna and along Old Stage Road. I donned my bug net for the latter. The grassy summit of North Avery Hill is crawling with ticks. I pulled six of them off my legs in the few minutes I was up there. Yuk.

Comments
Comments: Another long loop through the Belknaps before the rain returns; this was 11-ish miles.

Everything was basically dry except for the stretch of Blue Trail that climbs up through the valley of West Brook. Lots of water and mud on the trail through here. There was still some minor flooding on Old Stage Road where the new bridge/culvert is, west of the Alton Mtn. Rd. parking.

Streams and brooks are flowing well right now and I made use of one brook for filtering water. The upcoming rain should keep them going for a little while longer.

Stellar views from all of the outlooks and I only crossed paths with a few people all day. Nice to meet Deb at Hidden Valley as we were both setting out at the same time.
