Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing more than a couple of easy stepovers.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The "trail" in the worst shape was Shaker Farm Rd. north, walking from the Dublin trailhead to the Marlboro trailhead. All actual trails on Monadnock were well-kept and relatively easy to follow. The sections of Pumpelly and Dublin/Marlboro on the summit cone could use a couple more cairns / blazes, but the way up is still pretty obvious.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not permitted in Monadnock State Park.
Bugs
Bugs: There were a few black flies making their presence known during the late-morning White Dot ascent, but I didn't stop long enough to see whether anything was biting. No issues near the summit, where a pleasant breeze kept them away.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful, seasonably warm day for a 3-ascent tour of Mt. Monadnock! Winter has completely departed from this region of New Hampshire- there were a few wet spots on north-facing trail, but no snow or ice to be seen. The Marlboro Trail is interesting and diverse- probably my favorite Monadnock ascent route so far. As for White Dot, "shortest" definitely does not mean "easiest". The middle section of White Dot is right up there with some of the notoriously steep trails in the Whites, though it mercifully does not last as long.

Check out Unnecessary Climb for full details of this route, along with many others in the White Mountains and beyond!
