Comments
Comments: I hiked the loop clockwise because most of the drainage work is on the East side and I wanted to get that first. The East side (left at the loop junction sign) is very, very muddy with a lot of running water on the trail. If you feel like you are hiking up a stream, well, you are in the right place. Although the East Ledges are fabulous, I would recommend giving that side of the trail at least a week to dry out from all of the recent rain. If you, instead, take a right at the loop junction sign and hike out and back to the summit that way you will bypass most of the worst of the mud and running water.
You won’t need traction as there is no longer any ice or snow, but you will want your waterproof boots and gaitors.
Note that someone very recently reblazed the entire trail and it now has more blazes than I have ever seen on a hiking trail. There have been concerns, in the past, about trail finding on the East Ledges - well, that’s definitely not a concern any longer.
