Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: step overs or bridges
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great shape, evidence of recent trail work; Thanks. May have been one blowdown, but it was easy to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cooper and Piper had a great time. Plenty of flowing water near the trails today, for wading and drinking. However, Coop found a used sanitary item along side the trail, and probably would have consumed it if not taken from his mouth. Thankfully, I can simply take things from his mouth w/o a struggle or getting bit. These type of items can be devastating for a dog, requiring surgery to remove the item if not thrown up. Please, have a system (baggies, etc.) for removing these items with you on the trail, do not leave them along side trails; carry in, carry out.
Bugs
Bugs: Black Flies in parking lot, but must have been too cold for them at higher elevations; no signs once we were on the trails.

Comments
Comments: Great north to south traverse of these hills. Trails were mostly dry with a few occasional wet spots with mud that were easy to get around. I would say that the south section (south of the south summit) were a bit more muddy. Was nice to have bridges over the larger water crossings. Couple of the bog brides may need to be replaced in the next few years. Views from the ledges would have ben great, if not for the low clouds rolling in and out. See comment above regarding person items on trail. So many spring flowers throughout trails: Spring beauties, trillium, dog tooth violets; violets (esp. yellow)
