Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: East Branch at Lincoln was about 825CFS this morning. The three crossings of the unnamed brook on Franconia Brook Trail proved to be increasingly difficult but still crossable. We opted to have lunch at the Franconia Brook crossing on Lincoln Brook. It would have been crossable, and we where prepared to do so, but opted not to. Would have required no pants and crocs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Well, this is my box!! Several blowdowns cut/removed/dragged out on LBT. We gave to Franc Brook crossing a good hair cut - set for a few years! No real water bars on this section of trail, I know the next section I will be working on has over 75. Fortified a brush in to help keep traffic away from the old section of bed. There is one monster beech crown I have previously reported in the trailbed. It will require an overzealous axe crew. It's avoidable/stepover off to the side.
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: A great day of trailwork! See above. Rode bikes down LW and stashed them in the woods. Muddy in the usual spots, easily fixed with a cultivator. We got the first 0.5 miles nicely done, so I am happy about that! Noted no flora popping yet on Lincoln Woods. I really don't get why the USFS went through all the effort to create stone steps and repeatedly fortify the bridge to deny access when the fix on the abutment would have been FAR easier to do - less effort, time and money - but alas. It creates its own hazard for emergency personnel, whom will again have to take time to cut it down, further delaying a rescue.
