Comments
Comments: Pretty much dry trail up to about 3,000 feet. Then patches of mush start to appear. This stretch of the KRT gets very little traffic in Winter, so no monorail. Just mush with many postholes made with snowshoes. About 1/2 mile before the summit of Wolf the deep mush is constant. We were bare booting so going was slow/tedious with constant postholing sometimes knee deep into water. This continues for about a mile past the summit of Wolf where it's back to occasional mush.

Compared to the above the Reel Brook trail was a joy. However, below the place where the Reel Brook trail crosses to the North side of the power line swath it returns to the swath. I missed seeing where the trail reenters the woods still on the North side of the stream and swath so I continued down the swath worrying how I would find may way back to the Reel Brook TH. Walking down the swath was easy plus it was breezy and that discouraged the black flies. To my relief the swath comes to a stone wall. At the stone wall there is a trail down an old road which is the extension of the road to the TH.
