The grassy sections of the High Ridge Trail seem like the perfect habitat for ticks. I did not find any, but beware. |

Most trails were dry. The upper half of Oak Ridge Cutoff is very wet but passable. I was generally able to find dry stepping stones in the center of the trail.
The switchbacks on the High Ridge Trail are a bit annoying if you are used to steeper trails up in the White Mountains. But it's an old carriage road after all. It was built for a horse and buggy. My advice is stay on the trail, appreciate the history, and be patient. The view at the summit is stunning. |
