Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing significant
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: We went out and back from the Clifford Brook Road. The trail is rather easy to follow but is not blazed until the upper portion which has some yellow blazes. A few blow downs but nothing major.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Piper and Suzette did great lots of small stream crossings for them to drink from.
Bugs
Bugs: A few black flies at the parking area but the wind kept them away. Found lots of ticks on us as well as the dogs. All were dog ticks didn’t find any black legged ticks (deer ticks).
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Single car key hanging off a small tree branch at parking area.

Comments
Comments: We walked up the gravel road from the parking area as recommended and passed the house on the left where the circular dirt road ends. Per AMC guide book don’t park there. Trail starts out as an old logging road for a short distance and then becomes a trail following the brook basically the entire hike. Surprisingly the trail didn’t have any significant mud considering the amount of rain we had. There was some snow patches and a small monorail which was unstable and you could walk on the side of it but this was only maybe a quarter mile from the signed area where the trail descends in the other direction towards the Three Ponds Trail.
Spur path easily followed to the concrete footings from the old dismantled fire tower. Just past that a few higher rocky outcrops that one can climb with some limited views off the snow capped Mount Washington and Mount Lafayette and in the other direction Mount Moosilaukee. Fairly windy and cool at the top but sunny skies.
Overall a great hike with Deb and Suzette joining us.
Red Trilliums blooming and a single Painted Trillium was seen as well as lots of Colts Foot on the logging road
