Comments
Comments: Trails were snow free until just below the stairs, where there were a few patches. Stairs were mostly clear but there was some ice on the lowest ones that required care and some snow and ice lingered between the stair sections. Above the stairs was a deep snowpack and a generally sturdy monorail all the way to the Franconia Ridge/Flume Slide intersection. Patchy snow continued to the summit ledges. We bare booted to the summit and wore spikes descending, removing them for good at the top of the stairs.
Glorious hike with Chris on a perfect day. From the summit, we watched an eagle rise from the valley, passing between us and Mt. Liberty. Lots of beautiful spring ephemerals are blooming at lower elevations.
