Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Only car at lot at 9am. 3 on return. Room for 20ish. We drove Sandwich Notch Road afterwards to our next hike in Waterville Valley. It is in phenomenal shape and we made fast time in a 4x4 pickup. A low clearance car would have zero issues currently. No potholes/big rocks/dips. Just a bit bumpy at times.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy rock hops
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Wow was it refreshing to hike a trail with well-maintained water bars after hiking so much DOC stuff lately. Those Dartmouth kids are too busy hiding in their safe spaces or whatever to actually go out and do trail work. It almost looked like donrone took a leaf blower to the lower half of this wide trail. Smooth dirt and zero leaves. Hats off to the maintainers!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fin had a great time. Lots of water first Mile, top mile dry. Easy grades, no tough scrambles.
Bugs
Bugs: First half mile was clear, then as soon as we hit the section that parallels the brook we got swarmed by black flies. Head nets saved the day. Luckily found mine after thinking they had been lost a few days ago. We would have turned around without them. Bugs disappeared top third of trail.

Comments
Comments: Re-do of Israel since my April 2020 hike was socked in. I opted out of the whole lockdown thing at that time because it was fake and stupid. views today were magnificent-money shot of the entire Sandwich Range. Black flies atrocious down low-bug nets are currently essential items. only saw three other hikers on our descent. Grub toddled halfway up-big win for his old man’s back. Saw lots of Red Trillium and plenty of flowering Hobblebush. even more fun was driving Sandwich Notch Road afterwards-a real treat!
