Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: got to the main crossing of the West Branch of the Mad River and was a bit disappointed to see how far away the first stepping stone was from the shore. I had a serious moment of deliberation on whether or not I wanted to make the huge step with a two and five-year old. I was going to absolutely trash whoever built this crossing but I happened to run into and chat with A very nice fellow Rick on trail who is on the council for Athletic Improvement and he informed me that the Boulder became dislodged and moved on them. if you are not an able-bodied, somewhat agile person with no hang-ups about big river hops then this crossing might stop you in your tracks because of this one extra-long step. I ferried the kids across one at a time with zero issues since a fall would have just been really cold and sad but not life-threatening and we were close to the car on a warm day.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The level of detail in the stair sections and water crossings, minus the one dislodged stone discussed above, are amazing. They did a lot of awesome work on this trail and it shows
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fin had a great time playing in the river
Bugs
Bugs: None-too much breeze

Comments
Comments: Trying to finish up redlining the new trails in the 31st edition. Mad River Path was an extremely pleasant river walk in Waterville Valley that was a nice wind-down with the kiddos after Mt. Israel. 1.1 miles of mostly flat with one steep up/down staircase section that was really well-constructed and unique. See water crossing notes above for the weak, elderly, young, or faint-of-heart!
