 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I did general trail clearing today. Mostly kicking and flipping stuff out of the path with my poles. I sawed a few trees with my handsaw. There is a 16" spruce blowdown across the trail between the North View and Carlton Notch Trail, a larger saw or ax would be needed. To low to crawl under so it needs to be hurdled. Lots of dead tops and branches in the trail. |

They were out in afternoon on Four Soldiers as its more sheltered from the wind |

 | Comments: |
Great day my first substantially snow free hike of the season. Just a few patches of snow on the trail between the south view on Crescent and the Crescent ridge trail
For those who have not done this hike, its a great alternative to slogging through mud pits. Randolph soils are rocky and the trail tend not to be muddy. RMC has done a lot of work opening up views along the ridge. Its steep hike to the ridge and then a rolling ridge walk until Four Soldiers. Note I took the RCF logging road back to my car after it intersects with Four Soldiers. It saves some distance and elevation rather than continuing on Four Soldiers and back up to Randolph Hill Road. |
