Comments
Comments: Started from Pinkham Notch at around 9:30. Trail was mostly dry with very few muddy spots until first outlook at around 2700'. From then on there were occasional patches of snow and ice, but all were easily stepped around or traversed. At around 3600', a bit below the Ravine Lookout, the trail became snow-filled with some icy patches. We easily continued to bare boot it, with only an occasional post-hole until we reached tree line where the trail became bare again. From tree line to the summit, there were a few more snow patches mostly in areas with taller krummholz. Summit was very windy, making it difficult to stand at times in the gusts. We hunkered down in a lee below the summit ledges and had lunch while watching a nice lenticular cloud hanging above us. On the decent, we opted to put on our microspikes after a couple of barely controlled slides on the now warmer and softer snow. With the exception of distant views of a couple of skiers making runs in Tuckerman's, we saw no one else on trail.
