 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The biggest issues were on Manning. There is significant damage from hikers going around the scrambles up to/down from the ridge. Several blowdowns including two large widowmakers that will ruin someone's day should they fall at the wrong time. Another large blowdown is across the trail but is easy to get through. Lots of erosion all along the trail below treeline. |

 | Bugs: |
They were a bit ... buggy in the woods during the descent, but didn't have a chance out in the open with the wind. |

I was hoping the mostly sunny forecast would prevail but in the end the haze from the Canadian wildfires won out. No matter, it was still a great day here as it always is.
Everything was very, very dry, including the usual muddy spots between Orange and Rimrock. I considered continuing on and looping back via Elwell and Back 80 but decided to keep the mileage reasonable today.
Very windy at the summit and I hunkered down behind the fire tower for a bit. Really disheartened to see more graffiti up top. Some idiot thought it was a good idea to apply a large tag on the ledges at the Clark/West Ridge junction. I don't know what's wrong with people. |
