 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The reports for many weeks have been that the Downes Brook crossing is impassable without submerged feet/ankles/knees. With the water levels coming down, I wanted to check it out. I made it safe and dry via rock hopping, with poles to help my balance. BUT, I had to carefully weave my way through, picking a spot way downstream on the way in and way upstream on the way out. My advice: use the logging road a little while longer. I only tried it because I wanted to climb Hedgehog afterward and not move my car. |

 | Bugs: |
A few black flies in the parking lot: I prepped my pack wearing a headnet. But it was just breezy enough that I didn't see them for the rest of the day, other than a quick visit at a ledge in the evening. |

The trail is in great shape! LOTS of painted trillium on the lower slopes. Beautiful. |
