 | Dog-Related Notes: |
short easy hike with lots of water first 2/3. if your dog is a real knucklehead maybe leash them near the top as the ledges have huge drop-offs. one moderately difficult scree scramble could be tough for a few but most hiking dogs would have zero problems. |

 | Bugs: |
Only a few black flies again today. Not nearly bad enough for nets |

Boy oh boy I forgot about the gravel covered slabs near the top. So much gravel! I stayed upright but Margaret fell on her butt 4-5 times coming down. There is one short section that is completely eroded and steep and wet and covered in small gravel. A real pain in the ass. for the descent here I sent Margaret down tree-hugging through the woods just off the side and I had to pull off some real jungle gym heroics with the heavy baby carrier. a nice lady offered to assist us but I just told her it wasn’t our first rodeo and that if she heard a man screaming for help in the next 60 seconds to please head back up our way. Rest of the trail is delightful. Summit herd path is easy to find and follow-Short and not too steep. On a side note all the ice cream/gelato stores in Lincoln still closed, but Maple Haven campground on 112 is open and has twenty homemade flavors:) |
