Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I recall most all having nice bridges and small outlet of the 4th CT Lake was an easy rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Near the outlet of the 4th CT Lake is a not so easy crawl under that has been limbed but should be removed. All the way to West Inlet Road the trail was amazingly dry and clear and well marked. A few messy blowdowns just south of Lower Black Cat Trail northern/West Inlet Road but lots of recent good trail clearing was done below there. We were impressed by clear and well marked the trail. Good work Cohos volunteers!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No Dogs allowed on the trail to 4th CT Lake.
Bugs
Bugs: Very few, just about none! I think we hit it just right no bugs but wildflowers not out either.

Comments
Comments: First day of a two day Sobo slack pack of the Cohos Trail. Julie had never been to 4th CT Lake before so it more of a reason not to skip the official start of the Cohos Trail. I have the 2020 map and seriously it is difficult and maybe impossible to figure out all the names of the trails along the Cohos Trail but there are lots of trail signs and lots of yellow blazes. We enjoyed walking along the CT River. We were pleasantly surprised with our good fortune of no bugs and a mostly dry trail, the spring grasses and prickers are just starting to grow and the wild flowers are blooming yet with the exception of a few Trillians. Bog bridges, bridges, signs and lots of recent work removing blow-downs the trail was easy to follow and easy to follow well worn footbed. We finished our day after Falls in the River heading up the spur trail back to the parking lot on route 3. We headed to the Buck Rub Lodge and restaurant for a fabulous dinner and a good bed. Milage rang up to almost 15 miles.
