Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway parking area is about 500 yds south of Nye Rd and on the opposite side of rt 9.
M-S Greenway blazed white. Follows Nye Rd up 0.1mile to house on left, then trail proceeds straight into woods (white blazes). Joins wide Center Pond Road (ATV trail) also blazed white.
Watch traffic crossing and walking alongside Rt 9, they are moving fast. Missed trail shown on map going up, so decided to bag Dakin while there. From HOL, walked through mostly open woods crossing several old rds. Searched for register, hitting all high points (visually and on GPSs), but couldn't locate.
Returned back to MSG and proceeded down MSG searching for trail on maps - not there; located the ATV trail slightly more south and took that to HOL. Relatively short BW to jar on twig of a tree in open woods, small cairn. Still a bit wet and hard to write on (next person maybe bring paper/sm notepad?).
Overall, MSG trail was more of an ATV trail in this section, with big ruts, big rocks, and recent travel by ATV. Several muddy spots to go around. |
