Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in lot at the end of Alton Mtn rd, space for up to 20 cars, potentially. More than enough today for the three there. One expensive car was parked in a bump out further down Alton Mtn rd across from the pond; would recommend against this since the road looks unmaintained and has many ruts and rocks.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several and a climb up the falls. All rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great shape. One step over that had some work to remove branches for passing. These trails are so well marked with signs at each summit, and color coded!!! Superbly maintained. .
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cooper and Piper had a blast. Lots of water crossings to grab and drink plus spots for a full dunk to cool off. Water still needed at the higher elevations with fewer water crossing. Coop, who is a slightly shorter pup, needed a boost at one spot ascending the ledges / waterfall.
Bugs
Bugs: Pretty annoying, especially when stopped. Some breeze helped, but there was not nearly enough: bug netting on and off....

Comments
Comments: Great hike to bag these peaks in the Belknap range. Did the loop in the counterclockwise direction so that we could climb the steeper trails, and took the more gradual trails down. Trails were mostly dry, just a few moist sections, and the wetter climb up Precipice trail; just lovely. Good views from Mack and multiple ledges along this loop. Several flowers (lady slippers, painted trillium, blue bead lilies, may flowers, solomon's seal, could go on) in bloom dotted throughout to enjoy.
